KARACHI: Veteran national hockey player Amanatullah Khan Lodi aka Soofi who died in New Jersey, United States, was laid to rest the other day, family sources said. He was 85.

He is survived by widow, two daughters and a son.

The deceased who played as centre half, was the younger brother of the late Prof Hashmatullah Lodi and uncle of Dr Sarosh Lodi, Vice Chancellor of the NED University of Engineering and Technology,

In his hey days, Soofi represented Karachi, PWD and Central Excise for many years.

Meanwhile, his contemporary and 1960 Rome Olympic gold medallist Abdul Waheed Khan has condoled the demise of Soofi.
