TAXILA: Police are going to launch e-profiling system in Attock district to maintain data of suspected elements and the project would soon be initiated from Hassanabdal city.
This was stated by District Police Officer Attock Syed Shahzad Nadeem Boukhari while talking to newsmen here on Thursday.
Mr Boukhari expressed the hope that the compilation of data would be completed in phase wise in all tehsils and towns of the district and it is expected that it would be operational in three months.
He said e- profiling is a step towards public friendly policing where suspected people database would be maintained by the police to keep an eye on them.
With the launch of the project people living in sensitive areas would get rid of routine door to door checking, combing operations and other checking. Responding to a question regarding local residents’ problems while visiting their respective houses located around Sikh temple Punja Sahib on the eve of Sikh pilgrims visit, he
said that police in coordination with other law enforcement agencies would issue permanent cards so that the residents would come and go their houses without any hassle.
Responding to a question about security measures regarding Sikh pilgrims visit to the city on July 1, the DPO said although the number of the visiting Indian Sikh pilgrims was a few hundred, over 1,000 policemen would be deployed for the safety and security of the pilgrims.
The DPO said a multilayer security plan had been devised for the pilgrims to avoid any untoward situation during their three-day stay at the Gurdawara Punja Sahib.
He said walkthrough gates would be installed at the entrance of the temple.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer Attock Syed Shahzad Nadeem Boukhari along with deputy commissioner Ishratullah Khan held a meeting with the officials of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), tehsil municipal administration (TMA) and the Auqaf Department to review the arrangements for upcoming visit of Indian Sikh pilgrims on July 1.
