KOHAT: The Thall tehsil administration of Hangu district on Friday fined six milk sellers for using excessive water and formalin chemical in the product.

Additional assistant commissioner, Thall, Rashid Ali, district food controller, Silahuddin, along with livestock staffers checked milk samples at milk selling outlets and restaurants through the mobile laboratory.

The officials imposed heavy fines on six shopkeepers for using excessive water in the milk and mixing it with formalin chemical to preserve the product for a long time, which was hazardous to human health.

This was announced by district police officer Ehsanullah while addressing a meeting of the public liaison committee. He said nothing could be achieved against crime without assistance of people.

He said the people should point out the criminals involved in drug peddling, firing in the air, wheeling, and other menaces.

POLIO WORKERS AWARDED: Kohat deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan and district nazim Naseem Afridi have stressed that eradicating polio from the society is the collective responsibility of the state as well as the people because there is no room for negligence in combating the deadly disease.

They were addressing a ceremony to give awards to polio team workers on Friday.

Matiullah Khan regretted that despite efforts the poliovirus was still present in the country. He said the polio workers had rendered valuable sacrifices which were regarded by the government.
