SWABI: Residents of Chota Lahor tehsil on Monday blocked the Chota Lahor-Yar Hussain Road to protest prolonged and unscheduled power loadshedding.

The protesters gathered at the main bus stop and blocked the road, forcing commuters and transporters to wait till the protest ended. The protesters were chanting slogans against Wapda and Pesco.

Earlier, announcements were made on loudspeakers and the people were asked to come out of their houses to participate in the protest against the excessive electricity loadshedding. The protesters were led by representatives of local government and leaders of various political parties.

The protesters warned that they would not end the road blockade till solid assurance was given by Pesco authorities.

Later, DSP Chota Lahor and SDO Pesco held talks with elders and signed a written agreement with them that the Pesco won’t carry out unannounced loadshedding in the area, which led to reopening of the road.
