HYDERABAD: Eminent urologist Dr Adibul Hassan Rizvi visited Hyderabad on Tuesday to see whether a fully fledged unit on the pattern of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) could be established in the city.

Accompanied by Hyderabad Divisional Commissioner Abbas Baloch, SIUT official Anwar Naqvi and others, he visited Red Crescent Hospital Latifabad and a couple of other places.

He told reporters during his visit to Red Crescent Hospital that the people of Hyderabad should come forward to own a facility like SIUT after its establishment. He said people needed to collectively work for this cause and that he did not need anything in terms of cash or kind from them.

According to APP, he said the provincial government and well-off people should help him establish an SIUT centre in Hyderabad.

Commissioner Abbas Baloch said he was very grateful to the doctor for visiting Hyderabad. He offered full cooperation to Dr Rizvi for setting up the SIUT centre on behalf of the provincial government and the district administration.

“If a reputable institution like SIUT wants to work in Hyderabad, not only the government but the city’s people will also offer their complete cooperation to him [Dr Rizvi],” he said.

Dr Rizvi said the 10-bed dialysis unit of SIUT currently operating at Red Crescent Hospital was not sufficient to meet the treatment requirement of the city’s huge population.

He also visited the under-construction medical college in the Kohsar area and received briefing about certain ongoing medical projects.
