LAHORE: PML-N sitting MPA and former provincial minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has approached the Lahore High Court challenging call-up notices being issued to him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and placing of his name on no-fly or black list.
Through a counsel, Mr Khan submits that the NAB had initiated an inquiry against him on charges of corruption in youth festivals organised by him as then minister for sports and youth affairs.
However, he states the NAB dropped the same inquiry in 2017 following an approval given by its executive board.
He says the NAB reopened the inquiry on the same allegation and started issuing him call-up notices to appear before its investigation team. He pleads that the reopening of a closed inquiry is not only a violation of principle of natural justice and equity but also contrary to Article 13 of the Constitution read with section 403 of Cr.P.C.
The petitioner further states that the NAB also got his name placed on the black list that he came to know when he was traveling to the US and immigration officials at the Lahore airport stopped him from boarding the plane.
He asked the court to declare that notices being issued to him by the NAB as illegal and a violation of its own ordinance. He urgeed the court to also set aside the inquiry against him being unlawful, unconstitutional and politically motivated. Mr Khan also sought removal of his name from the no-fly list.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem will take up the petition on Wednesday (today).
