With the boom in animations, cartoon movies and video games, the new characters emerging every now and then on the silver screen have lots of fans, be it Optimus Prime from Transformers or the funny Abu from Aladdin.
I am sure you may also be having a long list of your favourite animated characters; so what made you love some animated characters, their acting or their voice?
If you ask me, I would say, “Everything!” However, whenever I like any animated character, I always look for the actor who gave voice to that particular character. My search led me to stumble upon the wonderful site, www.behindthevoiceactors.com having the collection of actors who have been the voice behind the characters across TV shows, movies, video games, shorts, commercials and rides/attractions.
The site has menu at the top with ‘Voice actors’, ‘characters’, ‘TV shows’, ‘movies’, ‘video games’, ‘shorts’, ‘attractions’ and ‘commercials’ as the main categories. You can choose from these or search the character or voice actor from the alphabetical order from the left side of the home screen. Or if you find it difficult to go through the long lists of characters and voice actors, you can search them specifically.
Once you open a character or a voice actor you will also see the release date of that character’s movie, show or game, its popularity rank, detail of the season or episodes. In a nutshell, you get all the information at one place.
The good thing is that the pages are not simply text, every voice actor, character, game, show and movie is accompanied by specially-cropped and captured images, many also with carefully-chosen and edited audio samples of the voiceover work within. For instance, did you know the voice behind Liono in Thundercats? Or who voiced Tinker Bell?
The site claims to exist since 2009, and from inception they have striven to become the ultimate all-in-one information and discussion repertoire for voice actors and their fans.
The site has broadened its scope over the years with extra features like news section, casting call, AYVO (the voice acting contest) and of course, the fan favourite ‘Voice Compares’. The website with its huge collection literally makes the lead in the world of web when talking about the voices behind the characters.
So, to see the voice behind your favourite characters, visit www.behindthevoiceactors.com.
