THE District Football Association (DFA), Malir, is an empowered local body in place with the sole purpose of promoting football in the district with their efficient team of hardworking individuals hand-picked by politicians in the PPP’s era.

The association is responsible for organising tournaments within the district to help nourish football talent in the district. One of the other responsibilities of the DFA is the appointment of coaches of the clubs within its territorial limits.

However, none of the above has ever been done by the DFA, except the appointment of coaches of their own choice.

Unfortunately, favoritism is not the only crime DFA Malir is accused of. A far graver misuse of power and authority is the misuse of a registered football club named Malir Union Football Club established in 1940.

This ground is being used to set up flea market (bachat bazaar) every Tuesday. The practice has been going on for more than a decade. This has spoiled the surface of the ground. There are now ditches and heaps of garbage, leaving absolutely no room for football activity.

I hope someone from Pakistan Football Federation will take notice of this injustice being done to Malir Union ground.
