ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday removed National Highway Authority (NHA) chairman Jawwad Rafiq Malik and appointed retired Capt Sikandar Qayyum to the post.

According to official notifications, Mr Jawwad, a BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, has been made secretary of Communication Division.

Mr Qayyum was serving as an additional secretary in the Interior Division before this appointment.

Incumbent secretary of Communication Division Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has been posted as secretary of Information Technology and Telecommunication Division.

It is the first top-level change made by the PTI government in the NHA. Mr Jawwad was appointed NHA chief by the last PML-N government.
