RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner, Rawalpindi, Ali Randhawa here on Friday asked the Water and Sanitation Agency and the Rawalpindi Waste Municipal Company (RWMC) to resolve the complaints of residents on priority besides extending a helping hand to the cantonment authorities in this regard.

He was speaking at an open court organised at the government school, Tariqabad, on the instructions of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Others who attended the session included City Police Officer retired Capt Mohammad Faisal Rana, PTI MPA and Parliamentary Secretary on Revenue Chaudhry Adnan, SP Potohar Syed Ali, Saddar and Cantonment ACs, RWMC Chief Executive Officer Behzad Adil, SDPOs, SHOs and officers of Wasa, the cantonment boards and Wapda.

DC orders relevant agencies to resolve people’s problems

A large number of citizens turned up at the open court and presented their complaints before senior officials of the administration and civic bodies.

Most of the complaints were related to water shortage, bad condition of roads and streets, unattended heaps of garbage, choked sewerage lines, encroachments and traffic jams in the areas of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonment boards.

Shehzad Ahmed, Mohammad Ayub and many others also drew attention of the authorities to the lingering issues of shortage of land for graveyards, heaps of garbage in streets and encroachments on roads causing traffic jams.

Mr Randhawa directed the Wasa and RWMC authorities to assist the RCB and Chaklala Cantonment Board in resolution of the people’s problems.

CPO Faisal Rana directed SP Potohar to launch a crackdown on drug peddlers operating in several areas of the division and playing havoc with the lives of youth.

“The drug dens should be eliminated within seven days and all members of drug mafia/sellers should be put behind bars,” he added.

Mir Tanvir, a citizen, told City Police Officer that drug mafia had been operating in the limits of Shah Faisal police post, which is controlled by PS RA Bazaar, and selling heroin to the youth unchecked.

He claimed that he had reported the matter to police, but no action was taken.

Nazim, a resident of Ghaziabad, said that the sale of drugs had been going on unchecked in Airport police station’s limits.

On this, the CPO directed SP Syed Ali to dismantle all the drug dens and arrest the smugglers and drug pushers within seven days.
