SUKKUR, July 26: Leaders of the Sukkur-Khairpur Irrigation Circle Mazdoor Union have announced to go on an indefinite strike from July 30 if their demands are not accepted.

In a press release issued here on Tuesday, the union leaders regretted that they were being deprived of their rights.

Demands of the union include provision of material at the site of work, upgrading the post of telephone operator from BPS-5 to BPS-7, revision of pay scales of Daroghas, gauge readers and security guards, removal of encroachments in irrigation colonies, cancellation of allotments of irrelevant people, employment for children of deceased employees, payment to workers during gazetted holidays, completion of personal record of employees at the division and circle level, granting promotions according to seniority, medical treatment and construction of a labour hall at the Sukkur Barrage.
