RECENTLY I read that the Sindh education minister was interested in improving the library in Sehwan. Here are my two cents about the minister’s interest.
I am currently finishing my Master’s in English. This summer I have spent most of my time revising the last semester’s syllabus at the library. The library opens at 9am and closes by 5pm.
Since May, I have been going to the library quite frequently in the mornings but there is no one there. It looks like the government has just built a place to keep its people employed. The library stuff does not help or do anything really.
Education in Sehwan is tantamount to putting a mule in the field. While many students rush towards coaching centres in order to seek better education to ensure university admissions, they ignore libraries — a place where you can study in peace and quiet, with access to books and spend less to no money.
