LARKANA: The management of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBMU) has decided to strictly monitor the volume of attendance of students, besides the faculty, and take on board their parents to keep them updated about their children’s performance studying in institutions falling in the bracket of the university.
Vice Chancellor Prof Aneela Atta-ur-Rehman in this connection on Saturday presided over a meeting which decided that the attendance of students be monitored in the light of the prescribed rules of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which call for 75 per cent mandatory attendance.
The SMBBMU registrar, principals of the Chandka Medical College, Bibi Aseefa Dental College and Benazir Institute of Nursing, as well as deans of medicines and basic sciences, controller of examinations and other officials attended the meeting.
The students’ attendance would from now on regularly be put on the notice board and sent to their parents as well so as to take them on board regarding the performance of their children studying in the institutions.
The teaching faculty would also ensure their arrival at the colleges by 8am.
The students who had already been served show-cause notices regarding their disallowed activities have been asked to submit their responses along with undertakings within a week’s time and in case of violation their admissions could be suspended, the VC told heads of the university’s allied institutions.
The regular classes in all these institutions are to resume on July 29 after vacations and the hostel inmates will be asked to follow the relevant rules and regulations.
The meeting participants decided that no examination form of students would be accepted until they submitted an undertaking regarding assurance of their good moral character.
The hostel inmates have already been advised to clear their outstanding dues within the stipulated time or lose the accommodation.
