BAHAWALPUR, July 27: A ‘mysterious’ fire at the house of Khalid Jajja, son of former MNA Mumtaz Ahmed Jajja, here on Wednesday evening at Adil Town claimed three lives.

Reports said Khalid was living with his second wife at a separate house. He was on his election campaign for a UC nazim slot in Yazman tehsil when the fire erupted.

As a result of which his wife Nazia (30), daughter Fatima (4) and son Fahad (2) were burnt alive. On receipt of information, Khalid Jajja rushed to Bahawalpur and suffered a heart stroke on way back.

He was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria hospital.

DIG Dr Ghulam Haider Marth, DPO Arif Nawaz and others rushed to the spot after the incident.

DPO Arif Nawaz, who was the first to reach the spot, told Dawn that Nazia had sour relations with Khalid.

He said after breaking open door of the room, the police found them dead and three canes of petrol were lying on the floor.

The DPO said it appeared a suicide case, however, the case would be registered after postmortem.
