KARACHI: The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) on Wednesday unveiled its manual on the “Evolution of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Pakistan: OICCI Perspective”.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan Chairman Mujeeb Khan stated that all matters related to IPOP are being reviewed and relevant rules, procedures and policies will be updated to ensure that it plays a more effective role in enforcing the concerned rights and the OICCI IPR manual will contribute to strengthening of the IP regime.

OICCI President Shazia Syed informed that a recently conducted survey estimated financial impact from counterfeiting, smuggling and violations of IPR, including copyrights, patents and trademarks and indicated loss of approximately 14 per cent in revenue, or Rs757 billion, to OICCI members in 2018.
