ISLAMABAD: Senior columnist Irfan Siddiqui on Monday approached Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking withdrawal of FIR registered against him under tenancy law.

The petitioner stated in his plea that he had been awarded with ‘Hilal-i-Imtiaz’ in acknowledgment for his services.

He had been serving as press secretary of president and adviser to the former prime minister.

He alleged that a baseless FIR was registered against him. The house, which was mentioned in FIR, was not owned by him, he further said and prayed the court to issue directives for quashing of case against him.
