RAWALPINDI: A two-day art exhibition titled ‘Beautiful Pakistan’ opened at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Tuesday.

The exhibition features more than 100 pieces that depict the landscape, culture and history of Pakistan by some 26 artists.

It was inaugurated by Naheed Manzoor and RAC Director Waqar Ahmed. Senior artist Syed Najam Kazmi, Ahmed Habib and Mahmood were also present.

While some of the artists captured Pakistan’s landscapes, others focused on women working in the fields of Punjab or in construction, as well as on the historic buildings in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta. A few of the pieces depicted life on the streets.

The exhibited artists included Syeda Nadia Raza, Rimsha Shahzadi, Nabeela Ahmed, Maliha Mushahid, Maria Kareem, Anzal Ahmed, Aizaz Ahmed, Nawaz Khan, Mehreen, Syeda Ayesha Zahid, Fasih Farooq, Mehek Hussain, Sharez Khan, Rabia Kanwal, Ejaz Khan, Mahmood Ali, Saima Amir, Mirza Shakil Ahmed, Qurtul Ain, Saman Khalid, Madeeha Baiq, Maheen Khan, Altaf Ahmed, Lubna James, Ahmed Habib and Younis Roomi.

Speaking at the opening, Ms Manzoor said Pakistan was blessed with natural beauty. She said Pakistan was achieved after the sacrifices of ancestors, and Pakistan needs to be run according to the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Mr Ahmed said the exhibition was organised as part of the council’s Independence Day celebrations. The exhibition will be open to the public until Wednesday.
