ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provinical Coordination (IPC) Fehmida Mirza on Friday said that she will ensure that netball and boxing are included in the upcoming National Games and that more and more women compete at the national as well as international sports events in the future.
The IPC minister who met the women wing officials of various sports federations here at the Pakistan Sports Board headquarters, said that she will take up this issue with the Pakistan Olympic Association to include netball and boxing in the National Games which are scheduled to be held in Peshawar in the month of October.
The sports officials informed Fehmida Mirza about the participation of women athletes in the upcoming Asian Games set to be held in Nepal in December but pointed out that the absence of female coaches and trainers is hampering the preparation of women athletes for the mega events.
The minister assured the women wing sports officials that very soon female coaches and trainers will be imparting training workshops for sportswomen at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
Also present on the occasion were secretary IPC Akbar Durrani and PSB director general Arif Ibrahim.
