KOHAT: Amid protest against the suicide committed by a suspect inside Saddar police station here, the district police officer suspended two police officials for their negligence of not disarming him after bringing him to the police station.

One Mohammad Asim Ameen of Kamalkhel was brought to the Mohammad Riaz Shaheed police station (Saddar) along with the complainant of a theft case. As he was being interrogated he pulled out a pistol and killed himself by firing in his head.

His body was taken to KDA teaching hospital and then handed over to the relatives.

The heirs put the body at Shuhada Chowk and blocked the road to traffic, alleging that the victim had been killed by the police while in custody.

DPO Wahid Mehmood, when contacted, said that the accused had made an attempt on his life earlier inside Bilitang police station a few years ago and was a habitual thief. An FIR of the case was registered in the police station.

DPO suspends two officials for negligence

He said that according to the postmortem report the case had been proved as that of suicide by the doctors who had written in their report that marks of explosives of bullet had been found on his hand and head.

“I have ordered an inquiry and after charge-sheeting two assistant sub-inspectors, Hanif and Mukhtiar, for their negligence suspended them. Their punishment will be reckoned after completion of the inquiry report that why they did not disarm the accused. The demand of the protesters has also been met who were demanding action against the police officials,” the DPO added.

KILLED: A man killed his two nephews over a land dispute in Dhodha Sharif on Saturday.

Bilitang police said that one Anwar came to the house of his sister and after a brawl killed his young nephews Rashid and Asif.

Mother of the victims has registered a double murder case against his brother after which police have started efforts to arrest him.
