LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will unveil the revamped domestic structure for the 2019-20 season on Saturday.
Under the new system, six provincial teams namely South Punjab, Central Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Northern Areas will contest at the national level in all age competitions. Previously, departmental and regional teams had been participating at national level events.
The unveiling ceremony was to be held on last Saturday but a case was filed in the Lahore High Court against major changes made in PCB constitution, under which the new domestic system was also introduced. The LHC has issued a stay order which was vacated last Tuesday, allowing the PCB to continue working under the new system. However, the LHC has admitted another petition against the constitutional changes, without granting any stay.
Due to the legal proceedings, the already delayed domestic season has been further delayed for two days as in the earlier programme, the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy was to start from Sept 12 but now it will commence on Sept 14.
PCB chairman Ehsan Mani, chief executive Wasim Khan and director domestic cricket Haroon Rashid will unveil the domestic structure at a joint press conference on Saturday.
