SWABI: Poor cleanliness conditions in the district headquarters here have been creating problems for the residents who stressed that the tehsil municipal administration should focus on its primary duty of keeping the city clean.
Talking to this correspondent here on Saturday, they said that it was the responsibility of the people and business community of the district to regularly pay taxes to the government, but the TMA should play its due role in keeping the city clean and green.
The residents said that the TMA officials should take result-oriented steps for providing a pollution-free environment to the people and traders of the district. They called for immediate lifting of the heaps of garbage and scattered waste from the city areas.
Ahmad Ali Khan, a resident of the city, said that there was danger of spread of diseases in the current situation. Mohammad Irfan said that garbage near the hospital road could badly impact the health of the residents.
The people claimed that the TMA had no mechanism to collect all the garbage and then dump it at a proper place to protect the city’s environment.
However, when contacted a TMA official said that the sanitation teams regularly worked in different areas to keep the city clean and provide pollution-free environment to the people. He urged the residents to cooperate with the municipality staff in completing its task of keeping the city clean.
