Sony and Marvel Split over Spider-Man

Sony Pictures and Disney’s Marvel Studios will no longer be working together on the live-action Spider-Man film series starring Tom Holland.

Sony, who own the rights to Spider-Man on film, collaborated with Marvel on the Tom Holland series which includes 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hit theatres in July.

Reportedly, Disney and Sony were unable to reach a new agreement, with Disney wanting a co-financing stake. News about Sony and Marvel’s split came after Sony announced that Far From Home will be re-released in theatres in for time for Labour Day with four minutes of new footage.

Far From Home has become Sony’s highest-grossing film ever, earning $1.109 billion worldwide. It surpassed Sony’s previous record-holder, the James Bond film Skyfall, which earned $1.108 billion.


Two-year wait for Black Panther 2!

Fans of Marvel’s Black Panther have to wait for two more years to see their beloved superhero character in action. The date for the comic-book adaptation, which is May 6, 2022, was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif.

Ryan Coogler has returned to direct the sequel to his 2018, Oscar-nominated blockbuster, Black Panther which starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya and Letitia Wright, the first film was set primarily in Wakanda, a fictional African country whose people secretly developed advanced technology using a metal found in a meteorite.


First glimpse of Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil

Disney has revealed how Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone will look in its upcoming, live-action movie, Cruella.

“Here’s your first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in Disney’s Cruella. The film, also starring Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry, comes to theatres May 28, 2021,” said the Walt Disney Studios Twitter account where the image was posted.

The photo shows Stone with wild, black-and-white hair and dark eye makeup. Stone wears a black, leather dress and is holding the leashes of three Dalmations in the picture.

The movie is expected to be an origin story about de Vil, the dog-napping villain who first appeared on screen in the 1961 animated classic, 101 Dalmatians. The franchise is based on Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel of the same name.


Kirsten Dunst receives a star

Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the ultimate goal and an honour for anyone in Hollywood. And recently, Kirsten Dunst received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony attended by her husband, Jesse Plemons.

The event took place in Los Angeles with Dunst, being honoured with the 2,671st star. Dunst, during her speech, recalled seeing the Walk of Fame as a child with her parents and thinking they were dedicated to the stars of the past.

“I never dreamed that someday I would even be close to being part of that. I’m so honoured to be here today and a part of Hollywood history,” the actress said.

Dunst is best known for starring in films such as the original Jumanji, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and so many more including as Mary Jane Watson in the original Spider-Man trilogy.
