SWABI: The police recovered seven kilogrammes of charas and arrested four carriers here on Wednesday.

SHO Pumuli police station Niaz Ali said that the arrested people were identified as Siraj Khan, Zahid Khan, Anayatur Rehman and Rab Nawaz, belonging to Shewa union council.

He said that a case had been registered against them.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist belonging to Managi village was killed when he was hit by a speeding rickshaw at Kunda Mor on Swabi-Jehangira Road on Wednesday. A commuter was injured in the accident.

MICE CHEW UP CURRENCY NOTES: Mice chewed up 100 currency notes of Rs5,000 denomination owned by a worker, which he had set aside for his marriage.

Asim Khan of Dagai Mohallah of Yar Hussain village told mediapersons on Wednesday that he had worked hard and saved the money for his marriage, but was shocked after seeing that mice had gnawed on the notes kept inside quilts.

He said half of the each currency note was damaged, and demanded of the government to help him replace the notes as the numbers were still visible on them.

REGISTRATION FOR RECRUITMENT: A large number of youngsters registered their names for recruitment in the Pakistan Navy on Wednesday, at its registration office set up in government higher secondary school, Topi.

The youngsters said the Navy had also established the registration centre the previous year in the same institution, but a number of them could not get registered as they came to know about the centre when it had already been closed.

It was learnt that only those candidates were registered who had acquired first division in the secondary school certificate examination results. The registration would continue till August 7.
