LAHORE: PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif met his son Hamza Shahbaz at the Kot Lakhpat jail here on Saturday.

Unlike the meeting day of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, hardly any PML-N worker was present outside the jail to receive the opposition leader in the National Assembly.

He told Hamza who is the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not prove any charge against him or any other member of the family.

The four other Sharif family members also called on Hamza who was shifted to this prison from the camp jail following traffic jam on Ferozepur Road for hours on Friday when a good number of workers gathered outside it to celebrate his birthday.

On Wednesday last, the accountability court denied further custody of Hamza to the NAB in the money laundering case.

Hamza was arrested by the NAB on June 11 last after he withdrew his bail petitions from the Lahore High Court. The accountability court had not extended physical remand of Hamza in Ramzan Sugar Mills after July 5.

Shahbaz is also facing money laundering charge. The NAB said a call-up notice was issued to Shahbaz but he did not turn up and rather submitted a medical certificate.
