SWABI: Awami National Party vice-president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti here on Saturday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had been using the National Accountability Bureau for victimisation of political rivals, thereby weakening democracy in the country.

Talking to mediapersons at Yar Hussain here, he said that NAB had arrested leaders of the opposition parties without securing any evidence of their corruption.

Mr Hoti said that at the same time no action was taken against the incumbent ministers and other political personalities. “This is against the essence of accountability and justice,” he remarked. He said that they would never accept selective accountability.

Answering a question, he said that ANP was part of the opposition parties and they would support any decision taken jointly.

About the Kashmir issue, Mr Hoti said that they stood with the Kashmiri people and wanted a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute according to the UN resolutions. However, he said that without internal unity it might be difficult to achieve the desired objectives at the world level.

The ANP leader said that the PTI government had failed to deliver on all fronts. He said that exorbitant prices of daily use commodities had been affecting each and every person of the society.

Party’s district president Amanullah Khan was also present on the occasion.

KILLED: Two people were killed here on Saturday, police said.

Ahmad Ali, a resident of Karnal Sher Khan Kallay who worked in a private hospital in Swabi, was shot dead by unidentified assailants. His family said that Mr Ali had gone outside early in the morning, but later his body was recovered from fields in Kalu Khan. Police have registered the case.

In Naro Kallay, one Khalid Khan was seriously injured when his brothers-in-law opened fire on him. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

KASHMIR SOLIDARITY: Women here on Saturday staged a protest march to express solidarity with the people of India-held Kashmir.

They urged the world community to play its due role in stopping India from committing human rights violation in held Kashmir.

The students of higher secondary school for girls, Shahmansoor, and other institutions participated in the march and demanded of the UN to take steps for ending the lockdown of India-held Kashmir.
