HARIPUR: Provincial minister for communication and works, Akbar Ayub Khan, has said that the Haripur trauma centre would soon get the required facilities.

He was speaking to different delegations from his constituency who called on him at his office here on Sunday. He also said that the provincial government had approved a medical college for Haripur and the process of land acquisition for its building was in the final stages.

The minister claimed that the distance of Haripur hospital and medical college would be less than 35 kilometres in line with the PMDC’s policy. He said that the existing building of the trauma centre was being equipped with modern machinery and two operation theatres so that all healthcare facilities could be provided to the people in the district.

Answering a question, Akbar Ayub said that the type B district headquarters hospital was being upgraded to type A hospital.

He said that the government had already approved a plan to provide missing facilities and fill vacant posts of doctors in type D hospitals of Khalabat Township, Sera-i-Nehmat Khan, Dingi and Kotnajibullah. Former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub was also present on this occasion.

SUICIDE CASE: A man allegedly committed suicide in a remote village of Beer union council.

Beer police quoted Ali Zaman, a resident of Karlakiyan village, as saying that his son Atif, 21, was jobless and helping the family in taking care of farm animals.

He said that on Saturday Atif was asked by his mother to take animals to the water pond, but he forgot on which his mother scolded him. After some time the family members rushed to his bedroom on hearing a gunshot. When they entered the room, Atif was lying in a pool of blood and a 12-bore shotgun beside him.

Police registered the case and have started investigation.
