LAHORE: Three students suffered minor injuries when two groups clashed in Punjab University on Tuesday.

According to varsity sources, Baloch Council students were standing at a parking lot on the campus after attending the National Conference on Kashmir when activists of their rival Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) arrived there.

The IJT activists were taking their vehicle out of the parking lot when it hit a motorcycle belonging to a student affiliated with the Baloch Council. In the ensuing exchange of harsh words, both groups threatened each other of dire consequences.

The IJT activists left the scene but after a short gap they returned along with other activists of the group and attacked the Baloch Council activists with kicks and fists.

Meanwhile, Baloch Council president Amir Qaisrani and other members of his group, on being informed of the clash, came there and joined the fight. In the clash, Qaisrani and his two activists suffered minor injuries.

The clash later ended on the intervention of the university administration.

Following the incident, Mr Qaisrani alleged that the varsity administration was promoting the IJT whose activists were freely torturing the students on the campus and no action was taken against them.
