BAHAWALPUR: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has proposed the annual four–day Bahawalpur’s mega sports feature of 15th Cholitan jeep rally from Feb 13 to 16, 2020, according to a press release.

TDCP event manager Sheikh Fayyaz Ahmed told government officials and other stakeholders in a briefing that according to a tentative schedule, the jeep rally will be held in February next year for which the arrangements would be finalized accordingly.

He said that keeping in view the weather condition and other environments, preparations would be completed. The rally to be staged in the Cholistan in the vicinity of historic Derawar Fort, 70 kilometres from Bahawalpur.

He said that in this connection, series of meetings would be held to work out further details of the mega event where participants from across the country are expected. A majority of tourists also joins the rally.

SEALED: On the instructions of Chief Minister Complaint Cell chairman Javed Khan Daulatzai, the team of local department for environments sealed a steel mill near Sammasatta on Thursday.

According to environment department officials, the action was taken on public complaints.

A number of residents of the area complained that the steel mills created pollution for the people living its surroundings as the children were infected with skin diseases.

RAID: The Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) and Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) jointly raided Cholistan’s four villages and retrieved 524 state acres worth Rs500 million and arrested Siraj, Ahmed, Muhammad Rafi, Hassan Mehmood and Mukhtiar Ahmed. ACE Director Kashif Muhammad Ali told Dawn CDA officials had also been asked to recover damages from the arrested members of land mafia.
