Six people died while 6 others sustained injuries on Saturday when unidentified men opened fire on a passenger coach in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district, said police.

According to Hangu police, the coach was in Zargari area of the district when unidentified men showered it with bullets. It was heading towards Shamsa Din village and was destined for Taal town, they added.

Among the deceased were two women and four men. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital along with the bodies of the deceased.

According to City Station SHO Amjed Hussain, a case has been registered against the unknown persons under Sections 302, 324, 427, and 102 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

SHO Hussain told DawnNewsTV that the killing appears to be a case of old enmity in the way it was carried out.

He said that a search operation to arrest the accused had been launched.

On Monday, in a similar case of suspected old enmity, a bullet-riddled body was recovered by police in KP's Jamrud town.

The deceased was identified as Azar Khan, who was believed to have been killed by his rivals.
