GUJRANWALA: Nine villages have been added to the newly-established Metropolitan Corporation of Gujranwala under the Punjab Local government Act 2019.

According to local government deputy director Sajjad Munir, the map and delimitation list of new boundaries have been displayed to invite public complaints and suggestions till Oct 14.

He said the Gujranwala metropolitan would have 2.46 million population. Villages made part of the new set-up are Ladhewala Warraich, Eamnabad, Rahwali, Gondlawala, Atawa, Dhalanwali, Pipliwala, Sansehra Goraya and Maraliwala. Six town committees have been established. They are Alipur Chatha, Tatleyali, Sohadra, Sadhoke, Wahndo and Nokhar.

There will be four new municipal committees at the regional level which are Wazirabad, Qiladeedar Singh, Gakhar and Noshehra Virkan. Kamoke will be municipal corporation with a population of 264,217 people.

There will be tehsils councils in Sadar Gujranwala, Noshehran Virkan, Wazirabad and Kamoke.
