SWABI: The number of dengue cases detected so far in the district has crossed the 100 mark, sources in the district health department told this correspondent here on Saturday. They said that 30 of these patients belonged to a far-flung Narangi village.

The sources said that due to the strike of doctors and paramedical staff the patients had been facing the problem of diagnosis and treatment in the healthcare units. When contacted, district health officer Dr Niaz Mohammad said that some 35 dengue suspected cases were brought to the district hospitals who were provided timely treatment and discharged after recovery.

It has been learnt that a number of patients had been visiting private hospitals. The villages from where the patients had so far been reported included Hamlet, Topi, Gadoon Amazai mountainous belt villages and some localities of Chota Lahor and Razaar tehsils, said the sources.

Narangi village is a far-flung locality of the district and about 90 per cent of its people earn their livelihood by working in their farming fields. An isolation ward has already been established in tehsil headquarters hospital, Razaar, where the patients had been admitted and treated.

CAR STOLEN: A car was stolen from a garage in Pirtab village of ManeriBala union council here on Saturday.

The car (LWL 0808) was parked in the garage near house of its owner. Car lifters broke the lock and took the car away during wee hours of Saturday. The car owner has informed the police of the incident.
