GUJRANWALA: A man allegedly killed his two sisters-in-law (brothers’ wives) over property in Ali Pur Chattha here on Sunday. Police registered a case, while the suspect managed to escape.

Zeeshan alias Shani was demanding more share in his family’s property, but his father kept refusing his demands.

On Saturday, his father, Ali Sher, gave him the amount equal to his share in property, but Zeeshan was not satisfied. He demanded more, but his father refused at which Zeeshan opened fire on his family, hitting his sisters-in-law, Yasmeen and Nadia, who died on the way to hospital.

Ali Pur Chattha police took the bodies into custody and registered a case against Zeeshan.

Nadia was pregnant with her third child, while Yasmeen was a mother of three children. Police were conducting raids to arrest Zeeshan.

DEPORTEES ARRESTED: As many as 56 deportees from Turkey and Greece were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) here on Sunday.

FIA Deputy Director Rai Nasarullah told Dawn that they arrested 56 people from Sialkot and Islamabad airports who were caught by security forces in Turkey and Greece. The deportees would be presented in an FIA court on Monday (today).

He directed the FIA to record statements of the deportees and register cases against human smugglers, who sent these people to Turkey and Greece illegally. A strict operation would be launched against them, he added. He said the deportees belonged to Gujranwala, Sialkot, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Wazirabad, Kamoke and Gujrat.
