GUJRANWALA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the office of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Gujranwala on Tuesday and seized the record of spending and appointments of the company in the last five years.
Three NAB officials seized record of 50 parks, more than 500 palm trees planted on GT Road and other greenbelts on different roads of the city.
NAB is looking into alleged illegal appointments, purchase of plants and seeds at high prices, withdrawal of money from government funds and collection of funds from the owners of factories and plazas in the name of greenbelts.
All inquiries are at a preliminary stage and no arrest has so far been made.
NAB is investigating into the allegations of corruption involving a former MPA, who remained PHA chairman from 2014 to 2018.
FIA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime wing on Tuesday arrested a suspect for committing ‘online electronic currency fraud’ worth Rs40 million in Gujranwala.
FIA Deputy Director Asif Iqbal told Dawn that Mian Ijaz, front man of the notorious online investment company ‘Paydiamond’ held seminars in different cities to attract people to invest in his company. He traded in digital currency.
Earlier, he was a rickshaw driver but he made fortunes from illegal vdigital currency.
He made multiple international tours to show his company a realty and lived in a luxurious house in a private housing society of Gujranwala. The online fraud case has affected hundreds of people in Gujranwala.
The FIA arrested him from his hideout and seized laptops, software and important documents.
