KARACHI: Seven teams — six districts and Sindh Police — will vie for honours in the IG Sindh Inter-district Hockey League which gets into action at the Olympian Hanif Khan and Dr Junaid Ali Shah Sports Complex on Thursday.

According to draws, Sindh Police takes on District Central in the tournament’s opening match at 4pm.

The event is being organised by the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) and its secretary Syed Haider Hussain is the organising secretary.

The KHA secretary said lucrative prizes in cash and kind are at stake. The winner will be awarded Rs150,000 while losing finalists receives Rs75,000. Best player of the tournament, top scorer of the tournament and best goalkeeper of the tournament will be presented brand new motorcycles. Besides, every man of the match erans Rs5,000.

The event concludes on Oct 13.
