QUETTA: Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt has said that all steps are being taken to enhance the capability of Balochistan police through training on modern lines and equipping them with latest gadgets and weapons to fight terrorists.

Speaking after inspecting vehicles and latest weapons provided by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime here on Wednesday, he said the new vehicles would help Balochistan police pursue criminal cases in a professional way.

“Balochistan police needed new vehicles and equipment for collecting evidence from the crime scene during any terror attack, blast and other crimes,” he said.

Lauding the support of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies, the IG said that policing was getting more effective in Balochistan and now “we are capable of securing people’s lives and property”.

He said that due to lack of modern facilities crime scenes were wasted in many cases and police and investigation institutions had been facing hurdles, but “now we would be able to collect evidences from crime scenes”.

The IG was briefed on the use of modern vehicles and informed that the vehicles would be given to trained police personnel.

He directed that the new vehicles be provided to Quetta region, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Sibi and Loralai regions.

Additional IG Jahanzeb Khan Jogezai, DIG Crime Branch Wazir Khan Nasir, DIG CTD Aitzaz Goraya and other police officials were present on the occasion.
