KARACHI: Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed IX beat their strong opponents Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed IX 58-51 and reached the quarter-finals of the ongoing SSB Defence Day Cup basketball tournament being organized by Pakistan Sports Welfare Association in collaboration with Karachi Basketball Association at Abdul Nasir Basketball Courts in Arambagh will restart from October 2.

Scorers for the winners were Talha Amjad 28 points, Furqan 19 points while Muhammad Shabbar scored 14 points. For the losers Ashraf Yahya scored 28 points while Hasan Ali Junior scored 20 points. The last league match of the tournament will be played on Oct. 5. Meanwhile, the KBBA will host a reception on Friday night to honour international umpire and technical official Abdul Nasir.
