CHARSADDA: The police recovered the body of a sixth grade student of a government school from fields in the limits of Khanmai police station here on Saturday.

The police quoted the mother of the student, Siraj, as saying that he went to the fields to bring fodder for cattle but did not return. She said they looked for Siraj throughout the night but could not find him.

She told the police that on Saturday morning she was informed by some locals that the body of her son was lying in fields.

The police reached the spot, took the body into custody and shifted it to hospital. The victim was studying in government higher secondary school, Mohammad Nari Charsadda.

Hospital and police sources said the neck of the boy was slit with a sharp tool and his body was abandoned in the fields.

Sources said the father of the slain boy had also been killed by unidentified attackers a year ago. They said the victim’s mother worked in houses to make both ends meet.

The police registered case and started further investigations.
