SWABI: Police here on Sunday arrested a student of a government college for badly mistreating a first year student in the name of ‘fooling’.

Earlier, a video of the incident went viral on social media wherein a student of pre-engineering group, Mohammad Adnan of Ahad Khan village, could be seen being forced to eat tree leaves like a goat. It enraged the local people who demanded arrest of all those involved in the incident.

The video shows six to seven students indulging in the immoral practice.

Imtiaz Khan, who called himself ‘Don’ is now behind bars. In the video, he warned Adnan that he was known as ‘Don’ and could do whatever he wished.

Adnan got so upset that he did not come out of his home after the video went viral. The poor student, with shoes hanging from his neck, was repeatedly slapped on the face and forced to eat tree leaves like a goat.

When contacted, police inspector Nural Amin told this correspondent that Imtiaz had admitted to his involvement in ragging and was ready to go to the home of Adnan to apologise for his misdeed.

In a video message from the judicial lockup, Imtiaz said that mistreatment of newcomers by senior students should be stopped in the colleges.

Meanwhile, another such video of students has also surfaced, but its origin could not be ascertained.

Qayum Khan, a resident of the village, said that he along with his son Numan Khan came to Naro Banda Kallay Eidgah for attending a funeral and parked his car on the roadside. When they returned the car was missing, he said.
