PESHAWAR: Bullet-riddled bodies of a young couple were found in the limits of Chamkani police station in the suburbs of Peshawar on Sunday.

According to the police, the bodies were recovered from agriculture farms and shifted to mortuary of Khyber Medical College for autopsy. Later, the bodies were handed over to relatives after identification.

An official said the deceased man was identified as resident of Khaliqabad Chamkani, and the woman of Miskinabad Chamkani village. Quoting heirs of the deceased persons, he said the couple was allegedly shot dead for contracting marriage of their choice sometime back.

He said the elders had resolved the issue, but despite that the couple was murdered and the bodies were dumped in agriculture fields on Saturday night.

“We have registered FIR against unknown persons. However, the accused persons will be charged in the light of statements of relevant people after the bodies are buried,” the official said and added that no arrests had been made so far.
