SWABI: In order to strengthen its vote bank the Awami National Party (ANP) has started reorganisation of its units in the district.
Sources told this correspondent on Thursday that grouping in the party was not acceptable to the party high command and the show cause notices recently issued to some leaders was a clear message in this regard.
They recalled that the show cause notices were issued to former MNA Bushra Gohar and Senator Sitara Ayaz. They belong to Jhanda village of the district.
The sources said that the party’s local leaders had failed to meet the expectations of central leadership and in the 2013 and 2018 general elections none of its candidates could win elections from the district.
They said that ANP confronted leadership crisis in the district after the sad demise of Haji Rehmanullah in May 2015, killing of former MPA Shoaib Khan in July 2016 and registration of an FIR against former district nazim Ameer Rehman in a murder case on the day of election in 2018. They said that differences had been surfacing from time to time in the party.
When contacted, Razaar tehsil president Mohammad Ishfaq said that ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan would visit the district from Oct 15 to 24. He said that it had been planned that during Mr Aimal’s stay he would visit numerous localities to effectively revive the party in the district.
