KHAIRPUR, Aug 5: Two Khairpur Dost Panel (KDP) candidates for the post of nazim and naib nazim have been unofficially elected unopposed and one union council nazim candidate of the Awam Dost Panel (ADP) has quit the panel and the PPP.

It is reported that KDP candidates — Abdul Sattar Mahar and Agha Nasrullah Pathan — for the post of nazim and naib nazim of the Garhi Mori union council, respectively, were elected unopposed as nomination form of their opponent ADP candidate Masood Nabi Dogar was rejected by the district returning officer for being a defaulter, and independent candidate Qasim Shah for the post of UC naib nazim withdrew from the contest.

Meanwhile, a KDP candidate for the post nazim of Sadar-Ji-Bhatyoon union council, Khadim Hussain Mirani, was also elected unopposed as the forms of his opponents Mohammad Ali Vistro and Ahsan Maitlo of the ADP were rejected by the DRO as his proposer Raza Mohammad alleged that his NIC was misused and his signatures were fake.

The president of PPP, Pir-jo-Goth, and an ADP candidate for Pir–jo-Goth UC, Amanullah Ansari, resigned from the ADP and the PPP in favour of KDP candidate Khalifa Rahim Bux Memon.

Talking to newsmen in Pir-jo-Goth on Thursday night, he announced to join the PML-F with the Ansari tribesmen.

UTPs: Around 12 under trial prisoners (UTPs) of the central jail, Khairpur, were sent to the civil hospital, the TB hospital and the city hospital here on Friday.

Out of 12 UTPs, two prisoners Shaukat Ali Narejo and Munir Ahmed Kurio have been admitted to prisoners ward at the Civil Hospital, Khairpur, while others were sent back to jail after medical tests.
