MINGORA: The grass skiing, recently introduced in Malam Jabba, has increased the charm of scenic Swat valley for the tourists and adventure seekers.

Tourists to the scenic valley are excited to have the new experience of skiing on the grass. They say that the valley has many entertainments for tourists and adventure seekers.

“We have heard about snow skiing in Malam Jabba in the winter season. I came here much earlier than the skiing season but I am excited to see grass skiing, which is awesome,” Saqib Butt, a tourist from Lahore, told Dawn.

He said that Malam Jabb was a wonderful destination for tourists.

Malam Jabba is famous for alpine skiing and is considered the only ski resort in the country where private skiers can play ski.

However, snow skiing can only be played in the winter season after a snowfall from January to March. The grass skiing is unique as it can be played in any season.

Tourists and locals like the new game as it can be played in all seasons

Although people of all ages like grass skiing yet the children love it the most. Besides the tourists, local children can be also seen playing grass skiing as they are being trained for future competitions.

“I love skiing but it was difficult for us to do it in all weathers. Now I will be able to do skiing throughout the year because grass skiing has been started here.

I want to learn it professionally and represent Pakistan in international grass skiing championship,” said Razaullah, a young boy from Malam Jabba, who was busy in getting training.

Grass skiing is properly taught in Malam Jabba where presently more than 90 children receive grass skiing training.

“We have over 90 local children, who learn skiing here. I believe they will become highly professional players,” said Asmat Ali, a ski trainer belonging to Samson group in Malam Jabba.

He said that grass skiing was a new game in Swat and tourists loved it when they came to the scenic valley.

“Many tourists try to play grass skiing when they visit Malam Jabba. It is good that grass skiing can be played throughout the year as it is not limited to snow,” he added.
