HARIPUR: Deputy commissioner of Haripur district retired Captain Nadeem Nasir on Tuesday announced that biometric attendance would be mandatory for all staff members of Haripur’s tehsil municipal administration.

Mr Nasir told the members of Haripur Union of Journalists here that the Haripur TMA had over 400 permanent and contractual employees but a majority of them didn’t perform duty and drew salary without attending office in connivance of some staff members.

He complained about uncollected solid waste, chocked drains and stench-emitting garbage dumps and said a lack of sanitation was an ugly sight for visitors, so he was committed to fixing the problem.

The DC said he had issued orders for the biometric attendance for TMA staff members from the current week.

He said he had also ordered the government officials and administrative staff, including assistant commissioners, to reach the open kutcheris before the complainants showed up to receive them.

The DC said for getting the firsthand information about complaints, he would either visit the area by himself or speak to complainants and order corrective measures over the telephone.
