SARGODHA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested on Tuesday former University of Sargodha administrative officer Usman Hameed for depositing official Rs1.7 million in his personal account and taking bribe during official visits to colleges for affiliation.
He was arrested in Bahawalpur with the help of the Counter Terrorism Investigation Team of Sargodha.
He was wanted by the ACE for the last seven years while another person involved in this case was arrested by the ACE in 2013 in Lahore. They both deposited the affiliation fee in their personal accounts instead of university exchequer.
The ACE is also probing into two other cases of financial corruption in the ‘Khush Aab’ water project of the university and hostel affairs.
The administration of the university has proved itself to be a whistle blower by showing zero tolerance towards corruption and has recovered Rs94.1 million with the help of the National Accountability Bureau from the owners of illegal private sub-campuses.
