ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Saturday warned his staff that he would not tolerate corruption in the country’s highest court and would take strict action against those who indulged themselves in such tendencies.

“We must try to remain within our sources and our motto should be to earn our living with fair means as minor mistake of the employee can bring bad name to the institution for which we all should be responsible,” Justice Iftikhar observed in his first ever interaction with the officers and employees of the Supreme Court after his elevation as the chief justice of Pakistan.

“Every one of us has to work with dedication, devotion, honestly and selflessly to maintain the dignity of the apex court, an august institution of the country,” the CJP said.

After assuming the office, he said, certain measures had been taken and streamlined by introducing a system of one-window operation for the convenience of the client and the counsel.

Every possible step should be taken to ensure that the litigant public should not suffer, he observed. The CJP also assured the employees of maximum facilities.—Staff Reporter
