SWABI: Body of a 10-year-old girl was found in the fields in a far-flung village of Topi here on Wednesday, said her family.
The incident occurred in Batakara village.
SHO Topi Shahzad Khan said a police party reached there soon after knowing that the body of a girl was lying in the village fields.
The girl had gone there for grazing the cattle. The body was brought to the tehsil headquarters hospital, where its autopsy was conducted and simples were taken for DNA test.
Azizur Rehman, the girl’s father, said when her daughter did not come home on Tuesday evening, he searched for her in the fields throughout the night, but could not find her. He said her body was found in the fields on Wednesday. He said there were signs of violence on her body.
However, SHO Shahzad said they were investigating the case to reach the bottom line.
Meanwhile, four passengers were injured when a truck and a rickshaw collided on Topi-Gadoon Road. The injured were taken to the Topi hospital. Two women were also among the injured.
Also, the Tordher police arrested a leader of a robbers’ gang, who had deprived a trader of Rs100,000 and mobile phone sets. The accused was identified as Manawar Ahmad belonging to Jalbai village.
