Four Sindh boxers in final

KARACHI, Aug 6: Sindh dominated in cadet category in the national cadet and senior ranking tournament with four of their boxers reaching the finals at KPT Sports Complex on Sunday. Sindh’s Sikandar Khan outboxed KPT’s Abdul Waheed in the 23-20 in the 46kg, Sindh Shahnawaz won against Asif kachchi on RSC verdict in the 50kg.

Sindh’s Faisal Shah emerged a 29-15 victor over Akbar Ali of KESC in the 54kg, while Sindh’s Riaz China was the fourth Sindh boxer who qualified for final when he beat KESC’s Hassan Asif 23-21 in the 60kg.

In senior ranking tournament, one Pakistan Army boxers made it to final, while four soldiers reached semifinals. Khalid Mahmood of Army beat Balochistan’s Mushtaq Hussain 63-62 in the 48kg semifinals, while in 51kg quarterfinals Army’s Noman Kareem defeated Sajjad of Sindh on RSC/OS in second round verdict and Army’s Noor Badshah was winner in same weight against Zakir Ali of Punjab on RSC/OS decision in third round.

Tariq Zia of Army walloped Talib Hussain of Balocistan 28-9 in 57kg quarterfinals, while Army’s Faisal Kareem beat his team-mate Jaffar Mahmood who retired in the second round of the 64kg quarterfinals. KPT’s Maherullah thrashed Pakistan Navy’s Bakht Hussain in 30-10 to reach 57kg semifinals, while another KPT pugilist Shahid Khan reached 48kg finals after beating team-mate Ali Mohammad 19-7.

52kg: Shah Fahad (Wapda) bt Azmat Shah (Army) 40-36 on average.

54kg: Faisal Shah (Sindh) bt Akbar Ali (KESC) 29-15; Arshad Hussain (KPT) bt Faheem Khan (Panjab) 21-12.

57kg: Ghazanfar Ali (Panjab) bt Jahangir Khan (Sindh) RSC/H/I.

60kg: Adeel Arshad (Army) bt Hidayat Ullah (Balochistan) 19-5; Riaz China (Sindh) bt Hassan Asif (KESC0 23-21.
