LAHORE: In the backdrop of the bail granted to former premier Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry has expressed solidarity with countless inmates languishing in jails across the country.

These inmates, he said, were not even being offered minimum medical treatment.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, Mr Chaudhry regretted that the PML-N leader had been granted bail despite the fact that he was availing himself of the best possible treatment and eating home-made food and living in a VVIP room.

On the other hand, he said, only three per cent of the inmates get access to hospitals inside jails, while only one per cent get treatment from hospitals outside jails.

‘Countless inmates languishing in jails’

Addressing the jurists, the PTI Punjab president said a society and system could never progress, where laws were differently implemented for the poor and rich, weak and the powerful.

“I am not criticising the federal or Punjab government but the whole system and society,” he said.

Referring to the Azadi March, Mr Chaudhry said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman was playing in the hands of enemies at a time when Pakistan was having a war with India.

He said India was busy in bombardment on border and Pakistan’s soldiers were laying down their lives. He said India had also put Kashmiri Muslims under siege.
