BAHAWALPUR: Eight more cases of dengue virus were reported on Saturday and the patients admitted to the isolation ward of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
According to doctors of the BVH emergency ward, the number of dengue patients admitted here had risen to 18, while the number of patients so far reported to the BVH within the last two months stood at 284. The doctors claimed that the 18 admitted patients were progressing.
BILAWAL: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is scheduled to visit Uch Sharif on Nov 4.
According to former MNA Makhdoom Ali Hassan Gilani, Bilawal will also address a workers’ convention at his residence before proceeding to Muzaffargarh the same day.
PMA: Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Bhatti and Dr Tanveer Bajwa were elected unopposed president and general secretary of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Bahawalpur.
The results were announced on Saturday by PMA Chief Election Commissioner Jam Ghulam Asghar. He announced that after the candidates from rival groups of Dr Hammad Masood and Dr Imtiaz withdrew their nominations, all the candidates belonging to Iftikhar Bhatti group were declared elected unopposed.
Other office-bearers elected unopposed included Senior Vice President Dr Aamir Bokhari, Vice President Dr Asad Kamran, Joint Secretary Dr Infal Firdaus, Joint Secretary Dr Bilqees Fatimah, and Treasurer Dr Rana Muhammad Shafiq.
The outgoing PMA president, Dr Basharat, declared stated that the PMA was not part of any protest against the Medical Teaching Institutions ordinance. However, he added, the association was against the termination of employees and contract employment. He demanded services of the doctors be regularised.
