KOHAT: The residents of various localities on the outskirts of the Kohat city have demanded of the wildlife department to kill wild boars for destroying standing crops, vegetables and fruit trees.
Iftikhar Hussain, president of the model farmers association, said the boars had destroyed the standing maize crop and vegetables.
The black and white pigs have also become permanent menace for the city dwellers and motorists, damaging their cars while crossing the Jarwanda and by-pass roads.
Mohammad Faisal, a local, told Dawn that he was crossing the Jarwanda road the other day when a white boar suddenly came out from guava orchards. “I tried my best to avoid it but the boar hit my vehicle, slightly damaging it,” he said.
A boar was killed by people in Manaabad area after the wild beast entered the populated area the other day from the nearby orchards. People surrounded it and beat it to death.
Similarly, two boars were killed by the watchman of a college on the bypass road. The farmers on the Bannu Road complained that their fields had been destroyed by the boars.
